Canine Cookies

These are quick to make. A great reward treat. Dale (pictured) loves them and she is a fussy eater. I had them sitting on the counter when my daughter came in from school. She thought they were for the family. She picked one up and ate it. (She did not realize they were for the dogs.) I asked her how they tasted and she said they were good, but jam would even make them better. So...if you would like to share a healthy treat with your dog you can, but you might want to have a jar of jam close by.

Ingredients
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 cup skim milk powder
1/3 melted beef fat, or bacon drippings. (I used beef gravy)
1 large egg, fork-beaten
1 cup water

Directions
Combine both flours and milk powder in large bowl. Drizzle with fat. Add egg and cold water. Mix well to form dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Roll out to 1/2 inch. Cut out with bone-shaped or dog-shaped cookie cutters. I cut them into 1-inch squares. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in 300 degree oven for 60 minutes.
